How does a person even know what love is?
Have you thought about that ever?
The idea of love is hard to define, and even harder to teach with a textbook. And yet we all know what it is... right?
So how did we learn?
By experience right?
Some good, some bad. Even by seeing how others in love act teachs us.
So what would it be like to define love if a person never experienced it... at all? At least not during their childhood and formitive years?
The idea seems to be at the core of most of the tension in the Shatter Me series, and it surprised me. You see I started this series because there was a ton of hype over the release of the fourth book... and I was curious. Then the first book was strange, and I didn't understand all the hype.
But now I'm quickly reaching the end of book three, and while I'm not sure this series will be the best ever for me, it has made some interesting points about the world, life, and love. Plus there are some amazing scenes where the importance of friendship is the focus, and I am always a fan of friendship.
Where This Idea Came From...
The idea is that each week all of us book bloggers can write a post where we talk about the book or books we are reading for the week - and yes if you are still reading the same book for a few weeks in a row that is totally fine. Just be sure to include the answers to the five questions for What are you reading Wednesday in your post. Then hop over to one of the host sites and share your link!Of course, this will be even more fun if you leave the host a comment, and then jump around to another post or two, or five, and gush with them!
We cannot wait to see what you are reading.
What Are You Reading Wednesday - the nitty-gritty
Share the book/s you are reading with their author, maybe even the cover... and then answer these questions for at least one of them.
- Why did you decide to pick up this book - cover or content?
- Who is your favorite character so far, and why?
- Will you finish this one?
- Finish the sentence: This book reminds me of... (other books, movies, TV shows...)
- What type of read is this one? (slow but interesting, cannot put it down,...)

Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi
The heart-stopping conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Shatter Me series, which Ransom Riggs, bestselling author of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, called “a thrilling, high-stakes saga of self-discovery and forbidden love.”
With Omega Point destroyed, Juliette doesn’t know if the rebels, her friends, or even Adam are alive. But that won’t keep her from trying to take down The Reestablishment once and for all. Now she must rely on Warner, the handsome commander of Sector 45. The one person she never thought she could trust. The same person who saved her life. He promises to help Juliette master her powers and save their dying world . . . but that’s not all he wants with her.
The Shatter Me series is perfect for fans who crave action-packed young adult novels with tantalizing romance like Divergent by Veronica Roth, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and Legend by Marie Lu. Tahereh Mafi has created a captivating and original story that combines the best of dystopian and paranormal, and was praised by Publishers Weekly as “a gripping read from an author who’s not afraid to take risks.” Now this final book brings the series to a shocking and satisfying end.
Why did you decide to pick up this book - cover or content?
Hype... I didn't know much about the content to be honest, and I really do not like the covers, the original ones, or the newer ones with the eyes...
Who is your favorite character so far, and why?
Kenji might be my all time favorite in the entire series. He has a horrible foul mouth, and I wasn't sure about him for a while, but he has grown on me. While he is a side character, he has evloved enough to continue to be interesting.
I also like James. That little kid just steals your heart!
I also like James. That little kid just steals your heart!
Will you finish this one?
Yep. These are quick and easy reads. The story has enough action to keep the pages moving and there isn't too much filler.
Finish the sentence: This book reminds me of... (other books, movies, TV shows...)
The Hunger Games... and Diverent... and Delirium... AND most of all of the X-Men... the ideas of the characters... but I won't spoil too much... I mean it's a dystopian for sure.
What type of read is this one? (slow but interesting, cannot put it down,...)
Intriguing. As a dystopian, you know there is a lot of action going on... so the breaks where she develops the characters sometimes feel slower than they are. But the overall pace is good and the writing is more like a journal which also makes for quick reading.

Are you a fan of this series?
I have to be honest, the whole Juliette and Warner "ship" is what caught my eye... there aren't that many fictional OTPs that merge well enough for such an interesting ship. So if you've read it... which side do you land on? Did you flip back and forth? I'd love to hear your thoughts (don't worry about giving me spoilers...)

Omg I love this series so much. Warner is my book boyfriend. I love him so much! I’d have to agree about Kenji, he is the true star of this series!! His character is so funny!
ReplyDeleteaw I was surprised how many people adore this series actually. It was under the radar for me for a long time... probably because I don't like the covers. but I'm not sure about Warner... I'm sort of indifferent about him...
