Christmas is full of traditions, right? And books, of course are at the center of ours. There are so many great Christmas books out there, and I love pulling them out each year. The memories are wound around their covers of years past. This is the magic books can have for kids if we take the time to read with them.
There are a million different versions of The Night Before Christmas story out there, I'm sure you've heard a few versions of it yourself over the years right?
Well, this year my kids are enthralled with a copy of this classic that was mine when I was a child. I'm willing to believe it's because this particular copy is an amazing pop up book with moving parts and many cut outs to explore. But, as this is a longer story (thanks to classic books having more to them modern stories) for years we haven't been able to make it through the whole story in one sitting. But this year we have read this story over and over, sometimes back-to-back. And for a 2-year-old that is impressive.
I'm hoping that this classic will help them move into enjoying The Polar Express, as it is one of my all time favorites. Sure the movie is great fun, and they are into it, but there is something magical in the art of the book that even the movie can't quite capture completely.
What about you? What is your kids favorite holiday book right now? Do you pull out the old classics from when you were a child?
I'd love to hear from you on what your kids are enjoying during story time this holiday season.
