All the Londons & Conjuring Light... WAYRW
Totally in the mood to ignore the world and read today...
Anyone else?
Which is not good because my to-do list is long and I'm near the very end of the fabulous Darker Shades series from the amazing Victoria Schwab...
So anyway... I'm making this short today... which means, I'm relying on you all to share your reads and then to comment below...
The idea of a modern Alice that fits into the ideas of Carroll, while full of new twists and turns that are perfect will make you want this whole series at once.
Where This Idea Came From...
The idea is that each week all of us book bloggers can write a post where we talk about the book or books we are reading for the week - and yes if you are still reading the same book for a few weeks in a row that is totally fine. Just be sure to include the answers to the five questions for What are you reading Wednesday in your post. Then hop over to one of the host sites and share your link!Of course, this will be even more fun if you leave the host a comment, and then jump around to another post or two, or five, and gush with them!
We cannot wait to see what you are reading.
What Are You Reading Wednesday - the nitty-gritty
Share the book/s you are reading with their author, maybe even the cover... and then answer these questions for at least one of them.
- Why did you decide to pick up this book - cover or content?
- Who is your favorite character so far, and why?
- Will you finish this one?
- Finish the sentence: This book reminds me of... (other books, movies, TV shows...)
- What type of read is this one? (slow but interesting, cannot put it down,...)
Marissa's Current Reads
I've had a busy week... so not much has happened in the actual reading department....
- A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas (yep a reread)
- Roseblood by AG Howard
- Ashes in the Moor by Sarah M Eden
- The Tethered Mage by Melissa Caruso
- Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng
A Conjuring of Light by VE Schwab
Witness the fate of beloved heroes - and enemies.
THE BALANCE OF POWER HAS FINALLY TIPPED...
The precarious equilibrium among four Londons has reached its breaking point. Once brimming with the red vivacity of magic, darkness casts a shadow over the Maresh Empire, leaving a space for another London to rise.
WHO WILL CRUMBLE?
Kell - once assumed to be the last surviving Antari - begins to waver under the pressure of competing loyalties. And in the wake of tragedy, can Arnes survive?
WHO WILL RISE?
Lila Bard, once a commonplace - but never common - thief, has survived and flourished through a series of magical trials. But now she must learn to control the magic, before it bleeds her dry. Meanwhile, the disgraced Captain Alucard Emery of the Night Spire collects his crew, attempting a race against time to acquire the impossible.
WHO WILL TAKE CONTROL?
And an ancient enemy returns to claim a crown while a fallen hero tries to save a world in decay.
Why did you decide to pick up this book - cover or content?
I'll be honest, the covers are a bit boring to me... even the new ones... but I picked up the first because everyone gushed over it... and then my favorite buddy reader joined me in a buddy read for book two and three... this is book three... and seriously once you pick up two, just be ready to read through the final book.
Who is your favorite character so far, and why?
For this book this is hard... I have loved Lila through the series, but this book, I felt more for Alucard and then the Queen... ugh... I love these characters... and for so many reasons they are destroying my heart.
Will you finish this one?
Oh yes I will... probably before the end of the day... I need to know what happens... I mean the evil in ths book... wow... just wow.
Finish the sentence: This book reminds me of... (other books, movies, TV shows...)
I have no idea... I can see Schwab from the Monsters of Verity... but there is a bit of classic dystopian themes going on... but it's all new, and yet similar... it's just plain good.
What type of read is this one? (slow but interesting, cannot put it down,...)
Quick... the chapter breaks and sections are choppy. There isn't a flow, and each little segment leaves me needing to know more and I keep on reading...

I have completely turned into a fan of VE Schwab, while each of her books have shadows of each other, there is a quality of her writing that brings the reader in and you hav eno choice but to experience the adventure. And just so we are clear, these are adventures you never knew you were missing, but you need to experience.
***Oh and a small note about the link up - please follow the prompts, feel free to change the questions, but the goal is to chat about books you are reading. I love this series! Probably my all-time favourite. Kell was my favourite in the first two books but I really swung to Alucard in this one... And then Lila... And Rhy... So. Hard. To. Choose.
ReplyDeleteSeriously! I was totally grateful the amount of time she put into Alucard... I was worried he was going to be a throw away character when a friend gave me a vague summary of characters... but I loved him... and yes... how does one pick a favorite from this cast????
DeleteI love comments!!
Let me know what you thought of this one... don't forget to share your blog link so I can stop by!
