Are you a big gift giver? A few years ago, my husband and I decided we would try to do the four gift rule with our kids, because the amount of stuff three kids accumulate during the holidays is crazy. And one of those rules is to give a gift that you can read... and as a result we have put together crazy long wishlist of books we want each year!
I know surprise, surprise.
And as part of that process, we have tried to push the importance of not buying everything you want. And when it comes to books the library has been our answer. And then I started to work as a reviewer, and the books started arriving all the time. And as a result many of my books have been gathering dust (metaphorically as I move them for pictures all the time) on my shelves.
So this winter is "project read the books I own" even though I'm pretty sure there will be a few new books under the tree for me...
So today's prompt of Winter TBR was perfect! And if you know me at all, you know that I will not be sticking to this list...
10 Books I Hope to Read this Winter
Alright these first few are from my 2017 TBR that I have not gotten to... so here's hoping I'll find a way to read these in the last few days of the year...
- Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor - This is book three of the series, and I am so in love with Karou and Akiva that I'm afraid to see how it ends, and have kept putting this off...
- Six of Crows & Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo - Are you tired of seeing this on my TBR lists? Me too! I am determined to fix that though... Plus Leigh has become one of my favorite authors to follow on social media as she is so encouraging to new writers, so I should probably start reading her books...
And since Winter doesn't start until late December, here's the first glimpse of what I hope read before Spring returns to me in Ohio... which means this could give me a ton of time to accomplish.
- Clockwork Angel, Clockwork Prince, & Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare - As I am still buddy reading this collection of series, we are finally coming up to the three I have been wanting to read from the beginning...
- Tower of Dawn by Sarah J Maas - Can you believe I haven't read this one yet?? I got it the weekend it was released, but it has been sitting on my shelf because again I'm afraid to see where she takes these characters... I want to know... but then again...
- Wonder Woman by Leigh Bardugo - this is another book I got as soon as it came out, as a gift for husband. And he read it right away, and I was sure I would read it as soon as he was done, but then life got in the way. So...
- Illusion by Martina Boone - Another last book of a series that I really enjoyed but can't seem to finish for fear of the what if... but no more... it's on my shelf and I need to read it!
- This Savage Song & Our Dark Duet by Victoria Schwab - Yep, this one probably sounds familiar too... I have been wanting to read these for more than a year (well This Savage Song anyway...)
Call out to hosts
Thank you, The Broke & the Bookish for this fun weekly prompt and chance to interact with the Bookish Blogger community.
And I'll be honest, there are so many more books I hope to get to. The colder days often have meant I can fly through books, but then again life can be crazy in the winter too, so who knows.

I admire your self-control! I have books gathering dust EVERYWHERE in my house. The majority of them have come from publishers, but I've purchased a lot of them as well. My husband is also a book buying addict (although he buys used -- I tend to buy new), so it's definitely a problem! I don't have the time or energy to whittle them down, but when we eventually downsize, sorting through them all will be an ENORMOUS task. Yikes!
ReplyDeleteI believe it was moving a few years back that got me to focus in on the books on my shelves... we'll see how well I do... I totally understand the need to keep buying them!
DeleteOur Dark Duet is on my TBR list, too. I’m so bad at reading sequels! I hope you get a chance to read all these!

Once I start a series, I have a hard time not finishing it but then a ton of other books pile up waiting for me
