And for that reason I'm sharing a Bible study that can give an option when it comes to taking a step past just reading the Bible: I Saw the Lord a group study by Anne Graham Lotz.
Story Overview
This study is set up for a six week group study. It has daily homework for five days a week where the participants take a few verses and read them closely, pray, meditate on them and journal through them. There is a weekly video that features Anne having spiritual conversations with a couple of Godly men. The three share their experiences in life where they Saw the Lord.
Personal Likes
I found the videos interesting, as I love to hear other's stories, and in video form meant it was quick. Also, Lotz' technique in Bible study is very practical and any one could do it, no matter their spiritual maturity.
Many of the women who did the study with me found this technique very inspiring, and they learned a lot. Most of our discussion time in the study allowed for the other participants to share their findings of God in their lives. And that is always inspiring.

Personal Dislikes
Overall the videos and the workbook barely were related. It felt like I was doing homework for one class and watching a video for another. I wish there had been more connection between them.
Also, the technique, while easy and for many, helpful, I found it very boring. There was also not many ways for the group to discuss the homework since so much of the homework was personal journaling and reflection that isn't meant to be shared.

Reasons to Read
If you are looking for a new study for your Bible group, and your group is looking to deepen their personal discipline in Bible study, this could be a great choice. I'm not sure you would need to use the videos if you don't want to.
Also, the original book that this study was based on, is supposed to be really good, so maybe getting the book instead of the videos would be a good option.
Since the workbook and technique is mostly self study and reflection, along with prayer and meditation, this could be a good self study to undertake.

My Suggested Audience
I would suggest for those who are looking for some practical first steps into scripture study and meditation and journaling. Otherwise this study might seem repetitive and not as inspirational as some others.
As I said earlier, this could be a good group study, or an individual study.
