FaithLeaps: A Review

As a mom who has experienced both sides of the working world, working outside the home, then working from the home, I always feel I have a unique perspective on the trials of being a working mom. I tend to find myself drawn to the stories of how other women are juggling their roles because of this experience I've had.

So when I was approached to read a new book from a woman who is sharing her experience as a mom working from home to build a career that God called her to, I was more than excited. Alyssa Avant, mom entrepreneur, asked me to read her new book a few weeks ago, and I'm so excited to share it with all of you today!


Alyssa's book, FaithLeaps: The Christian Mom's Guide to Passion, Purpose and Profits , is a great read that shines a light on Alyssa's passion to assist others as they take that first leap of faith to follow the calling of God.

Even in such a quick read, it is obvious that Alyssa has found the "sweet spot" that God created for her in this moment. She shares how she left a steady paycheck to leap into the unknown of a path that God guided her to. She shares her heart as she gives us some encouragement to go ahead and start that business  write that book, or whatever the dream God is prodding you towards even while being an involved mom and loving wife.

I appreciated that even while Alyssa was discussing the personality God gave each of us and the Spiritual gifts He blesses His followers with, she included links for the readers to go ahead and take quizzes which allowed for the book to become more personal instantly. Besides it's just always fun to take a quiz that gives you some insight to yourself, right?

I also was very glad that at the end of the the book Alyssa included a simple checklist for some more practical steps to focus on while taking that leap of faith. So often writers point towards the need to take certain steps while following God's plan, but the practicality is left out.  I'm glad Alyssa included the steps she found helpful.

My only negative thought was that Alyssa simply tried to include too many point in such a short piece. Specifically the chapter about finances.  While I completely agree with her view on finances, and debt, there just wasn't enough time spent on the topic, or rather, it just didn't really fit into the flow of the rest of her points.

Still if you are a mom who is feeling a prodding from God to work your passion into some form of profit for your family, I would suggest you get your hands on FaithLeaps. Even if you just enjoy hearing how other people follow the prodding of the Lord, this is a book for you!
