The weather changing and the sun appearing on a more regular basis has me wanting to escape into light romantic comedies... Anyone else?
So I was more than excited to pick up Someday, Somewhere recently.
Sure these YA contemporary stories are similar to each other, and we all can guess where the story will end up, but what's wrong with that? The journey there is the fun part.
Plus I have been trying to find new authors, so this being a debut book caught my eye.
And because it's nice and I want to enjoy the weather more, I'm making this short... but I'll stop by all of your posts that you share in the link up below!
Where This Idea Came From...
The idea is that each week all of us book bloggers can write a post where we talk about the book or books we are reading for the week - and yes if you are still reading the same book for a few weeks in a row that is totally fine. Just be sure to include the answers to the five questions for What are you reading Wednesday in your post. Then hop over to one of the host sites and share your link!Of course, this will be even more fun if you leave the host a comment, and then jump around to another post or two, or five, and gush with them!
We cannot wait to see what you are reading.
What Are You Reading Wednesday - the nitty-gritty
Share the book/s you are reading with their author, maybe even the cover... and then answer these questions for at least one of them.
- Why did you decide to pick up this book - cover or content?
- Who is your favorite character so far, and why?
- Will you finish this one?
- Finish the sentence: This book reminds me of... (other books, movies, TV shows...)
- What type of read is this one? (slow but interesting, cannot put it down,...)
Marissa's Current Reads

Someday, Somewhere by Lindsay Champion
Dominique is a high school junior from a gritty neighborhood in Trenton, where she and her mom are barely getting by.
Ben is a musical prodigy from the Upper East Side, a violinist at a top conservatory with obsessive talent and a brilliant future.
When Dom's class is taken to hear a concert at Carnegie Hall, she expects to be bored out of her mind. But then she sees the boy in the front row playing violin like his life depends on it --- and she is transfixed.
Posing as an NYU student, Dom sneaks back to New York City to track down Ben Tristan, a magnetic genius who whisks her into a fantasy world of jazz clubs and opera, infatuation and possibility. Each sees something in the other that promises to complete them.
As Dom's web of lies grows, though, so does Ben's obsessive need to conquer Beethoven's famous Kreutzer Sonata. But Ben's genius, which captivates Dominique, conceals a secret, and the challenges of her life may make it difficult to help him.
Why did you decide to pick up this book - cover or content?
Mostly content because like I said I was looking for a sweet romcom type story, but the cover is amazing - I love the colors and the music notes hiding in it. I don't want to spoil too much, but I also wanted to read this book as one of the characters is said to deal with bipolar, and I am always on the lookout for books that do a good job of incorporating all aspects of mental health.
Who is your favorite character so far, and why?
While Dom is very interesting and meeting her first seems to point to her being our MC, I feel a much stronger pull towards Ben. He seems to have so much hiding in these first few chapters, so I'm excited to see where Champion takes him.
Will you finish this one?
For sure. Partly because I'm all about stories where the characters love instruments and music. Plus these characters are full of possibilities.
Finish the sentence: This book reminds me of... (other books, movies, TV shows...)
A very small part of me thinks of Fangirl, just because of the tone of the characters so far. But mostly I get the same feel as I got from Under a Million Stars - these characters are going to go deep... or at least they should, I hope it lives up.
What type of read is this one? (slow but interesting, cannot put it down,...)
So far it's a steady pace that is keeping me interested. The downside is I have it on my kindle and often forget to keep it charged so I keep killing my battery and only having short spans of time to read it. But the story itself is a good pace.

I'm very curious, do you pick up books because of the characters? So this one deals with bipolar - and I want to see how the mania versus depression is shown - would you pick up a book for a similar reason?
***Oh and a small note about the link up - please leave a bookish link. I would love to hear about what you are currently reading. If you want to answer these five questions great! If you'd rather just share about what you are reading, I'm up for that too. If you have a question, feel free to ask it!***

Thank you for the link up! I added Someday, Somewhere to my want to read list. I'm a little bummed because my library doesn't have it.
ReplyDeleteIt was only recently released... Let your library know it is a new book by a new author and you would love to read it, and see if they can order it... often libraries take requests like that, and then they let you read it before it ever goes onto a shelf! It never hurts to ask.
