Angels, Vampires, and Shadowhunters & WAYRW
There are some books that become so popular some of us are amazed we even missed the beginnings of them.
The Shadowhunters world created by Cassandra Clare eluded me for a long time. I'm not sure how... probably because I wasn't reading a ton of fantasy when they were coming out... I was in a classics and nonfiction phase... but still I'm only just getting into this world that has taken over the YA fantasy market.
I need to know, are you a big fan? Were you originally or did someone else pull you in??
Where This Idea Came From...
The idea is that each week all of us book bloggers can write a post where we talk about the book or books we are reading for the week - and yes if you are still reading the same book for a few weeks in a row that is totally fine. Just be sure to include the answers to the five questions for What are you reading Wednesday in your post. Then hop over to one of the host sites and share your link!Of course, this will be even more fun if you leave the host a comment, and then jump around to another post or two, or five, and gush with them!
We cannot wait to see what you are reading.
What Are You Reading Wednesday - the nitty-gritty
Share the book/s you are reading with their author, maybe even the cover... and then answer these questions for at least one of them.
- Why did you decide to pick up this book - cover or content?
- Who is your favorite character so far, and why?
- Will you finish this one?
- Finish the sentence: This book reminds me of... (other books, movies, TV shows...)
- What type of read is this one? (slow but interesting, cannot put it down,...)

- The Tethered Mage by Melissa Caruso (I can't seem to get into this one...)
- Tower of Dawn by Sarah J Maas
Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
In a time when Shadowhunters are barely winning the fight against the forces of darkness, one battle will change the course of history forever. Welcome to the Infernal Devices trilogy, a stunning and dangerous prequel to the New York Timesbestselling Mortal Instruments series.
The year is 1878. Tessa Gray descends into London’s dark supernatural underworld in search of her missing brother. She soon discovers that her only allies are the demon-slaying Shadowhunters—including Will and Jem, the mysterious boys she is attracted to. Soon they find themselves up against the Pandemonium Club, a secret organization of vampires, demons, warlocks, and humans. Equipped with a magical army of unstoppable clockwork creatures, the Club is out to rule the British Empire, and only Tessa and her allies can stop them...
Why did you decide to pick up this book - cover or content?
I have been buddy reading this entire collection of series - and it's huge... so content?
Who is your favorite character so far, and why?
I'm not sure... I find Tessa a bit annoying, but that seems to be the case with all of CC female leads. Jessamine has potential. I'm enjoying seeing Magnus in this setting. And Jem has some interesting scenes so far.
Will you finish this one?
Yep. The idea of this story is very interesting to me, plus too many of my friends love this series, so I have to know what happens!
Finish the sentence: This book reminds me of... (other books, movies, TV shows...)
Wuthering Heights or Jane Eyre a bit... probably because of the time and setting. And it is clearly a Cassandra Clare book, they are all similar.
What type of read is this one? (slow but interesting, cannot put it down,...)
My biggest issue with CC books is that they have so much build up, the characters and the world seem to take up too much time to establish in relation to chapters that have any real action. They are interesting, but easy to put down for a while.

Do you read the Shadowhunters books? I know there are a ton of opinions, between the books, the movie, the TV series... I'll be honest, I'm not sure they are the best ever books out there. But they are fun, I just wish they were shorter... what is with all the wordy authors anymore?
***Oh and a small note about the link up - please leave a current reads post. I would love to hear about what you are currently reading. If you want to answer these five questions great! If you'd rather just share about what you are reading, I'm up for that too. If you have a question, feel free to ask it!***

I’m a huge fan of CC! I’ve read all the books that are published that deal with shadowhunters. TID is my favorite of the series! Jem is most definitely my favorite character! I hope you enjoy the series!
ReplyDeleteI am almost done with this book... and Jem is most certainly becoming my favorite... I think this set is more interesting than the TMI so I'm happy
