10 Books to Read this Autumn

Top Ten Tuesday - Autumn To Read List - Marissa Writes on Reading List

There is a scent that truly defines Autumn in my mind.

It's the smell of the leaves changing colors, of the air cooling, of fireplaces filling the air.  It is the smell of apples ripening.  It's so unique, and for me, it's calming.

And yet, I also start to feel stressed in Autumn, because the holiday season sneaks up with so much speed I get stressed out.  And, if you follow along, books are always my answer for calming down in stressful moments and seasons.

Which means I know that I am setting some lofty goals for my reading... but you know if I don't set big goals, what's the point?

10 Books to Read this Autumn

  1. Tower of Dawn by Sarah J Maas  This is another book in the Throne of Glass series I've been reading all year with my reading buddy, so here's hoping I'll get to it....
  2. City of Glass by Cassandra Clare  Another book series I'm working through a reading buddy... seriously, reading with a friend is the best!
  3. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo  I have had this one on my TBR for 2017, so here's hoping this is when I finally get to it!
  4. Dividing Eden by Joelle Charbonneau  I bought this book right after it came out because the cover is so amazing, and while it's getting mixed reviews, I'm still too curious and need to get to it.
  5. Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco  I tend to pick up a more scary, spooky, or mysterious book around Halloween, and this is my planned read for October this year, I even lined up another buddy reader to keep me to this plan.
  6. God Loves Broken People by Sheila Walsh  A few years back I took Sheila Walsh's Promises of God study, and it still stays with me, so as a way to encourage as I move into the holidays, I will be picking this one up.
  7. RoseBlood by A.G. Howard   I just want to read this book!  Any story that is pulled from The Phantom of the Opera, I want!
  8. The Great Divorce by CS Lewis  I read these years ago, and am feeling like it's time for a reread.
  9. Illusion by Martina Boone Alright, alright... this series... I need to finish it!  I don't know why I haven't.  This is the problem with reading a book series as it comes out... I might get so distracted by other books I never get back to the ending of it.
  10. Story Trumps Structure by Steven James   Did you know I am attempting to write a novel?  I know everyone says that... but I truly am trying to write with the intention to publish... and so with NANOWRIMO coming up, I figured I'd get this one in as research.

Call out to hosts

Thank you, The Broke & the Bookish for this fun weekly prompt and chance to interact with the Bookish Blogger community.

I tried this time to avoid all the big series in my list... I hope to get through these and more... Granted, I have a few books I'm working on right now that will probably set me up to pick up series.  But that's life right?  We set goals, and understand that many of the goals are fluid and we bend.  Or more like the dog from UP, we get distracted easily when it comes to books.

  2. I love fall too, but I know what you mean about it also meaning the holidays will be here before we know it. And I'm definitely not ready for those. I have had my eye set in Six of Crows for quite a while now. Someday I hope to read it. All of your books for fall sound good, especially for this time of year. I hope you enjoy them! Thanks for sharing!
