A Short Reprieve
I can think of no better way to return to this space after a few weeks of feeling under the weather, than with a Five Minute Friday exercise.
I'd love for you to join! Stop by Lisa-Jo's and check it out.
She:
She walked in to the same coffee shop as last week, placing her bag full of books, notebooks, pens, down on the larger table, before making her way to the counter. She was acutely aware that for the next three hours she would be the girl she was years ago - before getting married, before becoming a mom - not a fake her, just the stripped down version of who she now is.
She has actually found a precious five minutes to find clothes with no stains, rush through some make-up application and even put a clip in her hair.
There is a strong desire to keep these evenings on the calendar, as they allow for a few hours of adult conversation, a few moments to read a book without being interrupted. A short reprieve from a job that fills every second of every day.
She cradles a warm mug of sweet smelling liquid that keeps her company as she begins reading, waiting for a few others who also see these few hours away as a treat. A retreat.
Slowly all the women show up, and conversation blossoms. Laughs over moments of life that we all know too well, moments of respectful silence when those heavier topics air, smiles and hugs that encourage the steps forward when the spirit is worn.
She loves these nights.
She wakes the next morning ready to jump back into life, yes it is hard, yes it is daily, but there, waiting on the sidelines are a group of sisters that have committed to walk this life together and meet weekly build each other up.
