The Thinks and the Places & Cozy Book Hop
Have you guessed that I'm a Dr. Seuss fan? I've done a fair amount of posts on his books and quotes... And guess what, here's another one!
And it's a two-for-one - a real BOGO if you will.
An all time favorite is Oh, The Places You'll Go. I mean it is a great book mostly because it holds just as much for adults as it does for kids. There are lessons to be learned in this book that every person needs to learn.
Thanks to The Literatorium, I was recently reminded that Dr. Seuss originally told this "story" as a graduation speech.
And when my youngest was born a dear friend gave him this book- not to read but to use to catalog his journey through school, thanks to this great blogger's idea.
As great a book as Oh, The Places You'll Go is, my oldest likes Oh, the Thinks You Can Think! even more. Just like so many Seuss books the words are funny and the pictures are funnier. And I love reading this book over and over because the message is so great. It is important to just use your brain and think! Such an important lesson in today's society where everything is programmed and structured (not that either are a bad thing - just that actual self-thinking and imagination tend to get lost).
