I decided to read this book in preparation for another year of discipling to High School girls. I don't have any girls, but having once been a High School girl, I figured it wouldn't be all the surprising and just a basic reminder of life as a teenager. And yes, some of the points made I remember and am prepared to deal with as I help these girls in their individual walks, but others I needed to be reminded and told. There is a lesson for every woman in this book.
"The almost impossible thing is to hand over your whole self - all your wishes and precautions- to Christ... Until you have given up yourself to Him you will not have a real self." ~~ C.S. Lewis
High School was time filled with wishes and dreams for myself, and in that I got lost in the lies the world tells me, so I can see how so many young Christian ladies fall into that trap. This book is extremely topical and practical when it comes to these traps - what a great tool to have as a mentor - mothers should have this tool - teens need this tool.
There are twenty-five specific lies addressed in this book, and each one is answered with the truth of Scripture. The lies range from "What I do now doesn't affect my future" to "I can't handle the loneliness of staying pure" and so much more. The lies where complied from interviews the authors had with thousands of young ladies, and they all seem extremely relevant. The fact that they authors used scripture to combat each lie is why I think this book is such a powerful tool.
A big point that hit me hard while reading this book was "every sin begins with a lie - if we listen, dwell, believe, and act on the lie we end up sinning." Looking back on my sinful life, I know that is true. The times I'm focused on His Truth sin is no where in sight.
The reader is given three steps to finding freedom from these worldly lies, and although they might not be easy, they are real steps that can be executed and followed with a little effort. Like, replacing lies with truth by reading your Bible, meditating on verses and building a community of believers to be there to help you on this journey.
The take home point in this powerful guide is: True freedom is found in a vital, growing relationship with Jesus Christ. And that is so true. If High School girls could get their hands on this book and soak it in their relationship with the Lord will be awe-inspiring.

But
he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you,
for
my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Therefore
I will boast all the more
gladly
about my weaknesses,
so
that Christ’s power may rest on me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV
