I am involved in my church's high school girls ministry, and this book caught my eye a while ago. I figured that even though I'm not that much older than the high schoolers, I went to high school in what seems like a different era! I mean I had a cell phone and we were using MP3 players, but texts weren't really a thing yet so you can imagine how different the high school universe is now.
This book addressed the issue of sex only. I have to admit that I was very glad to have such a tool in my back pocket now. Sex is one of those issues that is hard to approach as an adult, but is an extremely important topic to hit if you are trying to help teenage girls grow up as healthy Christians. Not to mention I learned a great deal about what the Bible actually says about sex.
The biggest point I learned from this book was the words referring to sex in the Bible, "yada" and "shakab". I had never heard the definitions of either of those words, well at least when it came to the Bible. As a high school ministry worker, I was grateful to Dannah for including a step by step direction in helping to "facilitate sexual healing" through prayer. I know how many girls are having sex in high school, and I know that the guilt that puts on a young Christian soul can be tremendous. So this book is great for parents and spiritual leaders to help be there when these girls are ready to ask for forgiveness and be freed from the guilt of sin.
Overall the book was an easy read. There are so many little nuggets of valuable information for both adults and teenagers. I highly recommend this book for teenage girls, their mothers, grandmothers, aunts, mentors, etc. I don't think you will be disappointed! Let me know what you think
