Goodreads Summary:

Anything can happen once upon a con…

When geek girl Elle Wittimer sees a cosplay contest sponsored by the producers of Starfield, she has to enter. First prize is an invitation to the ExcelsiCon Cosplay Ball and a meet-and-greet with the actor slated to play Federation Prince Carmindor in the reboot. Elle’s been scraping together tips from her gig at the Magic Pumpkin food truck behind her stepmother’s back, and winning this contest could be her ticket out once and for all—not to mention a fangirl’s dream come true.

Teen actor Darien Freeman is less than thrilled about this year’s ExcelsiCon. He used to live for conventions, but now they’re nothing but jaw-aching photo sessions and awkward meet-and-greets. Playing Federation Prince Carmindor is all he’s ever wanted, but the diehard Starfield fandom has already dismissed him as just another heartthrob. As ExcelsiCon draws near, closet nerd Darien feels more and more like a fake—until he meets a girl who shows him otherwise.

Sneak Peek:

"I'll go to ExcelsiCon and enter that contest. I'll win that contest. And I'll get my tickets out of here, away from Catherine and the twins, and create a new universe where I can be whoever I want to be and not what everyone thinks I am." ereader location 780

Initial Thoughts

Everyone needs some fun light-hearted books to read during the summer, and if you love Cinderella, and modern fandoms, you have to pick up this book.  It's adorable, and funny, and a quick read.  Perfect for any summer weekend getaway.  Plus who doesn't want to follow the story of a girl who is working in a Pumpkin food truck?

Here are some rules if you decide to join in:

Sneak Peek Saturday on Reading List a glimpse into what I am reading currently

• Pick up whatever book you are reading (non-fiction, fiction, children's... really the sky is the limit)
• Open to any page you have already read
• Share a few “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page - make it interesting without flipping to a ton of different pages.
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away -- You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so we can all add your book to our To-Be-Read lists!

You can leave your teaser, author, and title in the comments (click over to the web version if you're on the mobile site). Or write up your own post and join us weekly!  Then you can share your link in the comments, and I will stop over and leave you a comment!!!  YAY!

  1. I love fairy tale spins, but I'm not sure I'd like this one. I've recently read a few of Melanie Dickerson's medieval spins and loved those, though. I also had a wonderful time reading 2 of Liesl Shurtliff books when I wrote homeschool questions for my daughter.

Thanks for linking up with Literacy Musing Mondays.

    1. This is a very modern story - clearly a Teen summer read... so it's good to know which you would enjoy and which to avoid, so glad there are so many options when it comes to books!
