Welcome to Sneak Peek Saturday on Reading List!

Sneak Peek Saturday on Reading List a glimpse into what I am reading currently

Current book:

Forgetting Yesterday

Ava Wood

Forgetting Yesterday by Ava Wood a Sneak Peek on Reading List

Goodreads Summary:

Missy Shaw thought she had her life planned out perfectly; do well in school, take her basketball team to state, and get a free ride to college. Her life wasn't perfect, but it was constant. With her best friend Karley at her side, she could handle anything.

After the death of her mother, however, her dad had other plans. Moving Missy from everything she knew in Kansas to the great unknown created a new set of problems. Attending a new school, all she really wanted was to be invisible, but that simple feat proved difficult when she had a run-in with the school's basketball star, Adam Miller, on her very first day.

Adam is every girl's dream; charming, sweet, and gorgeous. And for some reason, he's very interested in Missy. His attentiveness is unnerving as Missy does everything in her power to evade his interest. Living with secrets she's not willing to share, Missy works to push Adam away in order to keep her family safe. But will keeping secrets really keep her safe?

Sneak Peek:

When I was certain my dad was no longer following me, I stopped and began to wipe the tears from my face. I couldn't let Adam see me like this.  (location 534 ereader)

Initial Thoughts

I'll be honest, this one started slow for me.  My heart broke early for Missy, and that might be what kept me reading. This is a heartbreaking story, and could honestly be a serious trigger point for some with violence in the home, or it could be a wonderful encouragement to others... but then again, I haven't finished it, and I am pretty sure this is supposed to be a series...

Gilmore Girls Lettering Challenge

25 days of Gilmore Girls quotes to letter

You might not know this, but I have been greatly enjoying Instagram over the past four months.  It is such a light-hearted social media group.  And, as a result, I have taken part in a few monthly challenges... which have been a blast.

With Gilmore Girls coming up in just a few more weeks, I have been searching for a challenge to celebrate... and when I couldn't find one, I decided I would give it a go.

If you are not familiar with these challenges, they are super fun.  Each day there is a quote or a line or something related to the Gilmore Girls, and you get to design it in your own writing - creative lettering, hand lettering, hand fonts, anything fun and unique to you really.  Then you snap a picture of it, share it on Instagram, and use this hashtag.   And if you want, you can see what everyone else is doing...

Gilmore Girls Lettering Challenge on Reading List with Marissa Writes

And because some of these are longer, feel free to use part of the quote instead of the whole quote... Like I said, I just want this to be fun! But I am including the full quotes below, as they did not really fit on the image.

  1. Lorelai & Rory Gilmore
  2. How many cups of coffee have you had today?       None... plus five...
  3. Stars Hollow
  4. I just take a book with me everywhere. It's a habit.
  5. I smell snow.
  6. Nothing says coffee like 6:00 in the morning.
  7. Oy with the poodles already!
  8.  We're almost there and nowhere near it. All that matters is we're going.
  9. Get back in your pajamas, go to bed, eat nothing but gallons of ice cream and tons of pizza.
  10. It's so satisfying to watch people exercise while you eat junk food.
  11. I'm so exhausted with incompetent people, I don't know what to do anymore.
  12. Copper Boom
  13. I think I forgot to put on underwear. Can you check?
  14. People can live a hundred years without really living for a minute.
  15. You jump, I jump, Jack.
  16.  In Omnia Paratus
  17. Oh, I can't stop drinking the coffee... I stop drinking the coffee, I stop doing the standing & the walking & the words-putting-into sentence doing.
  18.  Five years. Cool. I've got about the next two and a half hours planned, and then there's just darkness and possibly some dragons.
  19. Luke's Diner
  20. This thing we're doing here, you, me. I'm in. I am all in.
  21. And if eating cake is wrong, I don't want to be right.
  22. As long as everything is exactly the way I want it, I can be totally flexible.
  23.  What she tackles, she conquers.
  24. It's not too much food. This is what we've been training for our whole lives. This is our destiny. This is our finest hour.
  25. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life

There are so many more quotes I wanted to pick... but there just was not room...

I would love to hear ideas for other challenges...
