February Feature: Becoming a Godly Wife

Saturday, February 01, 2014

Did you remember to flip your calendar to the new month? Do you still have a paper calendar to flip?  I'm hearing more and more that houses don't even have flip-able calendars anymore!   Well we officially made it through January, and 2014 is in full swing now, right?

As we have entered a new month, I'd like to share with you one of blogs I enjoy.  I hope you can find the time this month to stop by Bridget's blog and say hi!  Enjoy!

My main purpose for starting Becoming A Godly Wife was to inspire other women to strive to be the best wife and mother they possibly be. In this day and age there are so many negatives out in the world about finding our lives as wives and mothers fulfilling. Instead I think it is one of the greatest callings we can have. Over on Becoming A Godly Wife I talk about marriage, homemaking topics, kid crafts and inspirational posts about things that God has revealed to me from varies situations I have found myself in.

Breathe: A book review

Saturday, February 01, 2014

I know firsthand just how hard it is as a busy mom to fit in a daily devotional, let alone trying to find the time to sit and breathe!  So when I heard about Jaimie Bowman's new book, Breathe: 31 Moments with God {for Moms}, I had to give it a shot.  I mean she says moments...

And this devotional does give you 31 days worth of daily devotions that will pull your focus on God, even while balancing a busy mom schedule.  Another plus, you can start this devotional at any time, it's not month dependent, you could even jump around to different days if you felt so inclined.

What's been going on at Reading List this week:

Here's what I've been writing this week, just in case you missed it.

The Shelter of God's Promises: A book review

Wednesday, January 29, 2014

I have been greatly blessed to be part of a small group of women who meet weekly (yes weekly) to study God's word through different books and hold each other accountable to personal goals.  (I promise to write more on this in the future, just not right now)

Last year, we worked our way through Sheila Walsh's The Shelter of God's Promises.  I was excited to start this study because I love Walsh's children's devotionals. So I figured her adult study would be great also.

My expectation was met.

Children's Corner: Look- Alikes Jr.

Tuesday, January 28, 2014

In case you haven't already guessed, I'm not the most creative person in the world.  I just can't come up with things on my own, which is why I'm so into reading about other's great creativity!  My kids however are full of imagination and want to create all the time.  This probably explains my semi-addiction to pinterest... but I digress...

Children are made readers on the laps of their parents   {Reading List}

As a result of my desire to keep my boys' imaginations growing, I was thrilled when we came across this super neat book at the library recently.  Now, this might not be the go to book for learning to read, but as far as really learn to observe and then create, this book is amazing.

Look-Alikes Jr. The more you look, the more you see! is full of fun imagery on every single page.

Powerful Life Plan: A book review {Giveaway}

Monday, January 27, 2014

There is no question in my mind that many, many moms feel like their lives sometimes get away from them.  With all the dishes, chores and child-rearing going on, it is easy to reminisce over the dreams you had before motherhood of the life you would be living.

I personally find myself spending some days wondering when I got so busy doing the same things every day!  And then I feel like I'm not really accomplishing much because I'm not doing what I thought I would be doing by this stage in my life. Now don't read this the wrong way, I believe motherhood is a job in of itself, and doing all those daily things is part of the process and should be seen as an accomplishment.  What I'm talking about here, are the other dreams we had before motherhood, that we shelf as we learn the job of being mom.

What if there were three simple steps to follow in order to be the mom you want, living the life you dream of?  Would you give it a shot?
