Hope & The Cozy Book Hop

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

There has always been something extra special about the week leading up to Easter for me... might have a connection to the fact that growing up we got Holy Thursday, Good Friday and then the following week off from school... But I'd rather go with the amazing hope that comes from Holy Week and Easter Sunday.

Have you been able to tap into that hope this week?  If not, take a moment and do that.

Here's my current favorite song about hope for you to listen to while you soak it in.

And now I invite you to link up with the Cozy Book Hop... Any post you've got on books you are reading, want to read or read to your kids.  Any post about an activity inspired by a book or story or character.  Or your favorite place to read.  All great options.  If you have a post on a Bible story, I'd be happy to see it.

All that being said, I've heard from a few of you, that you would be interested in an extra party here where you can link up anything. Since we all love to read...  If you are interested in such an extension of the Cozy Book Hop, please leave a comment telling me!

I ask that you link to a direct post - not just your homepage.  And if you add a link back on your post I'll give you a shout out on facebook and twitter - the code for the button is on the side, but a text link is just as great!

Make sure you invite your friends!  Have a wonderful week!

Stumbling into Grace

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

The idea of Grace is a concept that, for many Christians, is hard to really explain to both non-believers, and new believers.  Can you describe it?  Do you feel like you have received God's grace?

To be honest the concept of Grace is still hard for me to describe to others, probably because I'm not always sure I am truly standing in the waterfall of God's grace - do you know what I mean?

Balance at the speed of life

Balance at the Speed of Life

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

This past year I decided that I needed to commit myself to weekly Bible study with my church.  As a stay-at-home mom, it was very easy to set lofty goals, but never really accomplish them. I would let the work slide from day to day and suddenly I was putting the goal aside.  This just was not an okay habit to be forming when it came to the discipline of Biblical study and fellowship.

So into a weekly study group I went. I mean, the need for accountability was huge. And there was a study specifically for moms - perfect!

I must admit, I thought the study would be easy and not require too much effort- it was advertised for moms, you know moms that don't have a lot of free time-  I couldn't have been more wrong.

So if you are looking for a study for your study group check out Balance at the Speed of Life - for Women, by Barb Folkerts.

Bible Study workbook

This study focuses on how crazy life can get, but it is imperative that we carve time out of our daily schedules to spend with God.

The Widow of Larkspur Inn

The Widow of Larkspur Inn (The Gresham Chronicles, Book 1)
By Lawana Blackwell

This is the first book in a series called The Gresham Chronicles  and as a first book in a series it sets up a great location filled with lively characters.

This is a Christian Fiction series that is set in Victorian Era London, at least in the beginning. We quickly find out that our main character, Julia Hollis must leave London and the lifestyle she is accustomed to and start running an inn in Gresham. Julia's husband passes away before the book begins, and the drama starts quickly as Julia finds out he left her with a large amount of debt and no income.
